This is a place to learn about the art of writing in Arabic.

Arabic calligraphy provides an imaginative first step into appreciating the aesthetic qualities of written Arabic. The study of how individual letters are connected, how each stroke is made, and the way in which letter spacing creates the overall layout of the composition will encourage both patience and a focus on details.

Learners have the opportunity to make either a meaningful word or a simple work of art that represents what it means to belong to a community or be united during National Day activities. Beginners should begin their creative process through some form of guidance prior to making a final product.

Create paintings and crafts based on the UAE.

Children and adults find that painting allows them to show what they feel about the United Arab Emirates. The skyscrapers in Dubai, the deserts, the coastline and the traditional buildings of the UAE provide inspiration for many different art projects.

Painting your favourite place, creating an abstract work based on colours, or making a family collage of drawings and personal experiences is a way to make the project simple enough to do with children. Having a single theme will help keep the project manageable.

Discovering Culture Through Cooking

Cooking activities provide opportunities for children to share their experiences with others through stories. Cooking activities also provide opportunities for children to learn about cultural traditions related to food. Children participating in cooking activities can engage in discussions regarding the types of ingredients used, the concept of hospitality, and how the act of eating together is celebrated during special occasions within families.

You may want to consider trying out a traditional Emirati recipe like "luqaimat" or creating a tasting party for a group of friends where each person gets to sample different types of food that will be explained by you. Cooking together is a great way to learn new techniques and gain practical knowledge of cooking, including learning how to measure ingredients and organise your meal preparation.
