Know how to make your design understandable.

As with any design, when deciding on which software to use, consider the way the design directs your attention. When a design has a good layout, it will help you see the main point or message of the piece first, then allow you to explore further by looking for the supporting information. The use of spacing, alignment and the sizes of all elements of the design will affect this experience.

Try looking at a poster or social media image that you find appealing. Which part of it do you notice first, and why does this specific component catch your eye? If you want to learn more about the way people visually process information than simply applying effects to a blank canvas, create a basic layout of some type as a way to practise.

Increase self-esteem through fonts and colours.

The design of typography is much more than choosing a visually appealing font. Size, weight and position of text determine if people will be able to comprehend your message rapidly. As a beginner, you may practise this skill by creating one announcement that includes a clearly visible headline, a brief support statement and an easily accessible date/action.

Like colour, as well. You may be able to use a limited number of colours to help tie your work together, or even to highlight something specific. During your experimentation with this technique, make sure that your text is readable and that the colours fit the content and audience.

Choose tools that align with your early projects.

Each tool is designed for various types of tasks, and therefore, the best way to start a graphic design programme in Dubai is by determining what type of project you would like to complete. If you are creating social media images, you will have a different first step than if you were going to produce a logo or multi-page layout.

Select one little assignment to work on, then find out what software is required to complete it. For example, you could create an event flyer, a series of three similar postings or a simple mood board for a brand. Completing and modifying actual assignments can help you to realise how to use the software and the design choices that were made.

Why choose Learners Pod?

Learners Pod lists private design learning options in Dubai, including a Photoshop course and a Canva course focused on social media graphics. That gives beginners a way to explore a starting point based on what they want to make. A private class can also give you space to ask questions about your own designs.

Before booking beginner graphic design classes in Dubai, review the current course details and explain your goal to the instructor. Ask which tools you will use, what you will create and whether you will receive feedback on your work. The best fit is a class that helps you practise the design skills you need for your next project.

Final thoughts

Learning graphic design takes observation, practice and revision. Your first designs do not need to look like finished client work; they need to give you something specific to improve. Compare each new version with the last and notice whether the message has become clearer.

As you complete projects, save the versions that show your thinking and progress. Over time, these can help you identify the kind of design you enjoy, whether that is branding, digital content or print. If you are choosing a graphic design course in Dubai, look for one that gives you time to make, discuss and improve your work.
